A part of the floral collection from Kalavilasa, Bel cotton punja dhurrie is inspired by a traditional Mughal carpet. It is made in light beige, terracotta red, black, saffron yellow and rifle green colours, and in a fair trade workshop. Like the other cotton dhurries from Kalavilasa, Bel is also durable, light-weight, and easy-to-maintain. It remains steady on a smooth surface. This amazing textile is epitome of sustainability, whose life is counted in decades and is easily bio-degradable, made of 100% pure Indian cotton.
The dhurrie is Ready-to-ship and is dispatched in one business day. Proudly designed and handwoven in India.
ABOUT THE ARTISANS
Kalavilasa has adopted a weaving cluster in a remote village in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, located about 550km (340 miles) from its capital Bhopal. 12 weavers from underserved communities are engaged in weaving the dhurries on punja looms. They are promised work through the year, and typically weave for 300 days in a year. They take pride in weaving the dhurries and readily take the challenge of weaving large dhurries and difficult patterns. Each dhurrie from Kalavilasa comes with a Thank You note from the weaver(s) who made the dhurrie.
